BIO

A Musical Journey

KAECY is a South African singer, songwriter, performer and recording artist born and bred in the township of Mamelodi, east of Pretoria, the home of many great musicians. Coming from a family of musicians and distinguished vocalists, it was only natural that KAECY would find himself in the same path of music, singing in public as early as the age of 10 years. He thereafter moved on to join his church choir at the Mamelodi Baptist Church, which served as preparation for him for the tasks ahead. In September 2007, he was appointed choir conductor of Rhodes University’s Voice of Glory Choir, which performed in places like the Great Hall at Wits University and most notably at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown in 2007 and 2008.

In 2009, KAECY moved back to Pretoria, where he carried on his musical journey and working as a backing vocalist for artists such as, Fabian Moeng (Crown Gospel Award Nominee 2012), Percy Mthunzi (Crown Gospel Award Nominee 2012), Hassan Green (US), Bongi & Collin (SAMA and Crown Gospel Award winners), Letang (former “Adilah” band mate, winners of the second season of the talent search series, Coca Cola Popstars) among many others, both in studio and on stage. KAECY’s style of music can be described as soulful, spiritual and unorthodox. Although rooted in gospel music, KAECY is not restricted to any specific genre, boasting a versatility desired by many which allows him to tap and move to his heart’s rhythm. He’s just a boy with a song!

KAECY’s career as a solo artist was launched at his #SO_BEAUTIFUL Concert, held on the 11th October 2014 in Pretoria, where he received resounding praise for his music, delivery and all round finessed command on stage, this concert delivered way more than anticipated. What was meant to be a testing ground for someone who had never shared his music with a live audience before, KAECY’s #SO_BEAUTIFUL concert went on to distinguish him as a remarkable singer, song-writer, and entertainer in his own right, a true force to be reckoned with and ever since the concert, he has been inundated with calls to release a body of work that people can take home with.

Heeding the call of many, KAECY, released his debut album, “So Beautiful”, aptly titled after the concert that launched his solo career, while also describing the sheer feel of songs the album boasts. The album, which will be the first of many was released in on the 06th October 2017 and launched on the 13th October 2017. It is available on all leading digital platforms.

Since releasing his debut album, Kaecy has performed in many venues and has been featured on Afro Café (a popular music show showcasing some of the best talent in Africa) on their #NewComersOnAfroCafe special, as well as on Gospel Classics (a Gospel show that airs on Sunday during prime time, also showcasing some of South Africa's best talent), #NewBreed special which both aired on on of the South African Broadcasting Corporation's channels, SABC 2.
